How often should I do this?
Every four to eight weeks suits most cars, and more often through winter, when road salt is the thing quietly eating your paint and your wheels. Cars that live outside under trees need it more than cars that sleep in a garage.
Is this different from a car wash?
Completely. A tunnel wash drags the same brushes across every car that came before yours, which is where most of the swirl marks we later polish out come from. A hand wash with clean media, done in the right order, does not.
