How do I know if my car needs it?
Wash it, dry it, and run the back of your hand across the roof or the trunk lid. Smooth as glass means you are fine. Gritty, like fine sandpaper, means there is bonded contamination sitting in the paint — and no amount of extra washing will take it out.
Does this replace polishing?
No — they solve different problems. Decontamination removes what is stuck ON the paint. Polishing removes defects IN the paint. A car often wants both, in that order, and decontamination always comes first.
